Prevent Fires: Dispose Batteries Responsibly

Lithium-ion Batteries

Responsible Disposal Prevents Fire

Waste management facilities up and down the country have been severely damaged by fires caused by lithium-ion batteries- it is estimated nearly 50% of all recycling and waste fires are started by lithium-ion batteries.

When mixed in with other waste, these batteries pose a serious risk to starting a fire whether in the bin, in transport or when being processed at waste sites.

Lithium-ion batteries are commonly found in:

  • Power tools

  • Smartphones/Tablets

  • Vapes

Here at Gray’s Recycling Services, we ask that you please keep lithium-ion batteries out of your skips and bins. If you have batteries that you need to dispose of, please contact us direct and we will be able to assist you.
